Is the GoEast Kids Chinese camp a day camp or an overnight camp?

It is a day camp held at GoEast’s Zhongshan Park campus in Shanghai. Students attend during the day and return to their family or local guardian each evening — there is no overnight stay.

Who is the Shanghai Chinese camp for?

It is designed for international families visiting Shanghai, Shanghai-based expat families, GoEast online students, and any student with a suitable local guardian in Shanghai during the camp period.

Does my child need to speak Chinese already?

No. Students from complete beginner to advanced are welcome. Placement is based on age and Chinese level, so every child learns alongside peers at a similar stage.

What ages can join the camp?

The camp is for kids and teens ages 9–17, grouped into three bands: 9–12, 12–15, and 15–17. For students near an age boundary, placement also considers maturity and overall fit.

How are students placed by Chinese level?

Across all age groups, students are placed into beginner, intermediate, or advanced groups based on a short level check and the family’s input during enrollment.

What is the difference between the half-day and full-day programs?

The half-day Academic Chinese Booster focuses on morning Mandarin lessons plus snacks. The full-day Chinese Cultural Adventure adds lunch and afternoon cultural activities and local exploration.

Is lunch included?

Lunch and two snacks are included in the full-day Chinese Cultural Adventure. The half-day program includes snacks. Specific menus and allergy needs are confirmed before camp starts.

Can my child attend without a parent in Shanghai?

Yes. Students are welcome to join independently as long as they have a suitable local guardian in Shanghai for the duration of the camp.

How does GoEast keep children safe, and is insurance included?

Medical insurance is included during the camp period. The camp also provides on-site first-aid support, structured check-in and check-out, teacher supervision, and a clear emergency response process.
